State School Superintendent Richard Woods, along with Lisa Kinnemore, the state School Board Member from the 4th Congressional District, also visited the Early Learning Center.
ROCKDALE CITIZEN — Pre-K students at the Rockdale Career Academy’s Early Learning Center had some distinguished guests this week.

Georgia’s First Lady Sandra Deal visited the Early Learning Center at the Rockdale Career Academy Wednesday to learn more about the program that serves more than 90 3- and 4-year-old students. Shauna Miller, director of the Early Learning Center, explained that 92 percent of the students are considered at-risk and the school is reaching those students “who would otherwise not have a chance” at a quality early education.

That said, Miller continued, about 98 percent of those students who’ve been through the pre-K consistently meet or exceed standards based on Criterion-Referenced Competency Tests and the Georgia Milestones.

Deal, along with state School Superintendent Richard Woods and Lisa Kinnemore, the state School Board Member from the 4th Congressional District, toured the Early Learning Center classrooms, speaking with students and teachers.
