The State School Superintendent’s race is an important one for Georgia’s students, parents, and educators. The outcome of this race will have a direct impact on key issues facing Georgia educators: high-stakes testing, pay and benefits, funding, and support of the teaching profession. Today, Educators First, a non-partisan, statewide teacher organization in Georgia, is announcing its first endorsement of the 2022 election – Richard Woods for State School Superintendent. In a statement, Educators First said: “Georgia educators know Richard Woods. Time and time again – from reducing high-stakes testing, championing teacher pay raises and full education funding, reforming the evaluation system, and fighting for the teaching profession – Richard has shown a heart of an educator, never forgetting what it was like to be a classroom teacher. His proven leadership is needed now more than ever.” “Educators First provides a strong voice for one of education’s most important resources – our educators. As a veteran educator myself, I understand the calling, passion, and dedication of our teachers. I will continue to fight for them and the profession so they can stay focused on supporting their kids – our students,” said State Superintendent Richard Woods. Richard Woods, a 29+ year educator serving as a teacher and school leader, is Georgia’s State School Superintendent. |
