As a former educator -- and only candidate for this position with any K-12 classroom or leadership experience -- Richard Woods understands firsthand what it means to teach in a crowded classroom, in a Title I school, and experience the effects of high-stakes testing.

Throughout his 25+ years in education, as he was promoted into various leadership positions, he has never forgot what it was like to be a classroom teacher.

Richard Woods is the only candidate for the State School Superintendent's position with a real plan to elevate Georgia's educators.

He will continue to fight for Georgia's teachers and students!

Richard's Plan

• Provide true raises for teachers
• Expand step increases in the state teacher salary schedule beyond 21 years
• Increase the pay for beginning teachers
• Further reduce high-stakes testing in line with the federal minimum
• Protect TRS and ensure more competitive health care options
• Make further reforms to the teacher evaluation system so it’s a professional growth tool, not a ‘gotcha’
